Your NuvaMed Space
Patient guide — your psychiatrist has invited you to connect
What is NuvaMed
NuvaMed is the digital space your psychiatrist uses to organise your care. It is a private, secure place where your clinical team can stay in contact with you between sessions — sending you instructions, reminding you of appointments, and giving you access to the documents that belong to you. Nothing here replaces your relationship with your psychiatrist — it simply makes that relationship smoother.
What you find in your space
When you activate your account, you have access to:
- Your appointments: dates, times, and access details for in-person or video consultations.
- Messages from your team: instructions and reminders sent directly by your psychiatrist or their team.
- Your documents: certificates, prescriptions, and other clinical documents your doctor chooses to share with you — all in one place.
- Wellness check-ins (optional): if your psychiatrist sets it up, you can record how you are feeling between sessions — at your own pace, without pressure.
Your participation is yours to decide. Nothing here creates new obligations — it only opens possibilities you can use whenever you choose.
How to access your space
You receive an invitation email
The email comes from your psychiatrist through NuvaMed. It contains a personal link for you — you do not need to share it with anyone.
Tap the link
Tapping the link in the email opens your space directly. It works on mobile, tablet, or computer — no app installation required.
Sign in with Google or a link sent to your email
You can sign in with your Google account, or request that we send a secure link to your email each time you want to access — no password to remember.
Complete your profile whenever you like
When you first sign in we will ask a few basic questions. You can complete them then or come back later — there is no rush. You can pause and return whenever it suits you.
Your privacy and your consent
Your clinical information belongs to you. NuvaMed is built to respect that — and Chilean law supports it. Below we explain what we ask for, why, and what you get to decide.
Why consent exists
Before any of your data is used in NuvaMed, we ask you to agree to it. This exists so that you remain in control: you know what is stored, what it is used for, and you can change your mind at any time. It is not a formality — it is a right guaranteed by Chilean law (Law 21.719 on personal data protection and Law 20.584 on patient rights).
What is required and what is optional
Not everything we ask you for is the same. This table summarises it:
| What it is for | Type | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Allowing your psychiatrist to keep your clinical record in NuvaMed | Required by law | Chilean Law 20.584 requires the doctor to maintain a clinical record of your care. Without this, NuvaMed cannot function as a clinical system for you. |
| Receiving appointment reminders by email or message | Optional | Helps you remember your consultations. You can turn it on or off at any time. |
| Recording your wellbeing between sessions | Optional | Helps your psychiatrist understand how you are doing between appointments. Only if you want to take part. |
| Sharing clinical documents with you (prescriptions, certificates) | Optional | Gives you digital access to your documents. You can accept or decline — documents are also available in physical form from your doctor. |
Your rights over your data
At any time you can exercise your rights over your personal data:
- Access: request to know what information NuvaMed holds about you.
- Correction: correct information that is inaccurate.
- Deletion: request removal of data that is no longer necessary (within what the law permits).
- Objection: object to certain uses of your information.
To exercise any of these rights, write to us at privacidad@nuvamed.cl or ask your psychiatrist's team for the correct contact channel. We respond within 30 business days.
Frequently asked questions
Is using NuvaMed mandatory?
No. You decide whether to activate your space and when to do it. If you prefer not to use it, your medical care continues exactly the same — NuvaMed is an additional channel, not a requirement for receiving care.
Who can see my information?
Only you and your clinical team — the people directly involved in your care (your psychiatrist and, where applicable, other professionals they authorise). NuvaMed does not sell or share your information with third parties.
What happens if I do not want to give a certain permission?
Optional permissions do not affect your care. If you do not want reminders, or do not want to record your wellbeing, simply do not activate them and everything else works the same.
Can I change my mind later?
Yes, whenever you like. You can activate or withdraw optional permissions from your privacy settings at any time. Changes take effect immediately.
Does this replace my psychiatrist?
No. NuvaMed is a space to maintain contact and facilitate communication with your clinical team — your psychiatrist remains your psychiatrist. Clinical decisions are always made by them, together with you.
I am not good with technology, or new apps make me anxious.
That is completely normal. NuvaMed is designed to be simple and straightforward — you do not need to learn anything technical. You can go at your own pace, and if you need help at any point, you can ask a family member or your psychiatrist's team. It is fine to take the time you need.
Is it secure?
Yes. Your information travels encrypted between your device and our servers, and is stored with technical protections equivalent to those used in online banking. NuvaMed complies with Chilean health data protection legislation (Law 20.584 and Law 21.719).
Who sees a young person's information?
A young patient's clinical information is protected by the same confidentiality rules as any other patient's. Only the clinical team has access to it. A parent or guardian's access to an adolescent's records is governed by Chilean law and is coordinated directly with the psychiatrist. In practice, young patients typically activate their NuvaMed space together with their psychiatrist during a consultation, so the process is clear and supported from the start.
Need help?
If you have any questions about how to sign in, something is not working as expected, or you would simply like someone to walk you through your space, contact your clinic's team — they are your first point of contact and can guide you or connect you with us.
