Zoom Integration Guide

How to connect, use, and disconnect Zoom in NuvaMed for telemedicine

Prerequisites

1. Connect Zoom to NuvaMed

1

Open Settings

Sign in to NuvaMed and click "Settings" in the sidebar menu. Select the "Telemedicine" tab.

2

Start the connection wizard

Click "Connect Zoom". A 3-step wizard will guide you through the process.

3

Authorize with Zoom

A Zoom window will open requesting permission for NuvaMed to create meetings and access recordings on your behalf. Review the permissions and click "Allow".

4

Confirmation

You will be redirected back to NuvaMed. You will see a confirmation message with your Zoom email and connection status.

Note: Each professional connects their own Zoom account. Credentials are stored encrypted and are specific to each user.

2. Using Zoom in NuvaMed

Automatic meetings

When you schedule an appointment with a patient, NuvaMed automatically creates a Zoom meeting and sends the link to the patient. You do not need to open Zoom separately.

During the session

AI clinical notes (optional)

If you have cloud recording enabled in your Zoom account:

  1. When the meeting ends, Zoom processes the recording and generates a transcript
  2. NuvaMed receives the transcript automatically
  3. AI generates a draft clinical note based on the conversation
  4. You review and approve the draft before saving it to the patient's record
Privacy: Raw transcripts are processed in memory and never stored in the database. Only the resulting clinical note (reviewed by you) is saved to the patient's record.

Automatic note settings

In Settings > Telemedicine, you can enable or disable automatic clinical note generation with the "Generate notes automatically" toggle.

3. Data NuvaMed accesses from Zoom

NuvaMed does not access:

4. Disconnect Zoom from NuvaMed

1

Open Settings > Telemedicine

Sign in to NuvaMed and navigate to the Telemedicine tab in Settings.

2

Click "Disconnect Zoom"

Confirm the disconnection in the confirmation dialog.

3

Automatic revocation

NuvaMed automatically revokes the Zoom access tokens and deletes the encrypted credentials from our servers. The disconnection is immediate.

Note: Disconnecting Zoom does not delete clinical notes already generated, as these are part of the patient's clinical record and must be preserved in accordance with the law (Ley 20.584).

Uninstall from Zoom

You can also revoke access directly from your Zoom account:

  1. Sign in to zoom.us
  2. Go to Settings > Apps (or visit the Zoom App Marketplace > My Apps)
  3. Find "NuvaMed" and click "Uninstall"

When uninstalling from Zoom, NuvaMed will detect that the tokens have been revoked and will automatically update the connection status.
